Memorial
Nobody deserves to be forgotten
This virtual memorial is dedicated to about 45,000 U.S. soldiers who lost their lives during World War II. They are either buried in or memorialized as missing at the overseas American War Cemeteries Ardennes, Epinal, Henri-Chapelle, Lorraine, Luxembourg, and Margraten. Search the memorial to learn more about these men and women.
Learn about their service and sacrifice
The easiest way to search the virtual memorial is by entering a soldier’s surname, followed by his first name. However, you can also search by someone’s their service number, place of birth, unit or an aeroplane’s serial number. Furthermore, you can search a specific cemetery, section, row or grave. You can also combine these filters to narrow down your search results.
Would you like to have a copy of the information on a certain soldier? You can download the information on every soldier’s memorial page yourself via a special button. It is also possible to download a list of the results of your search.
We welcome any information, photos, documents, or other material that you might have on any of the soldiers memorialized on our website. You can submit anything that you have through our website.
We ask you kindly to ask for permission if you want to share certain information or other materials on your own website. We happily share photos and information, but we are not the original owner of the material in most cases. Because we want to respect the wishes of our sources, such as soldier’s families or veterans, we always want to ask them for their permission to share material for use on other websites, in publications, or to other ends that are not personal. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
The old Fields of Honor – Database was migrated to this new virtual memorial. However, it was not always possible to automatically migrate information or photos. We are still working on manually adding missing date. However, if you have concerns that anything might have been lost, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
